Question Unanswered: Determining server details from library

How would i know whether sybase ase server is accepting encrypted password or not? (i mean whether user has set "net password encryption reqd",1)
My code fails while logging in ASE server when encryption is enabled/disabled. I have to change my code according to sybase ase server setting.

    Hi,
    Why dont you check if you can establish connectivity using either encrypted or otherwise, like this;

    isql -U<user> -S<server> -P<password> << EOF >> temp.log
    select @@servername
    go
    exit
    EOF

    grep -c 'Msg' temp.log > /dev/null
    if [ $? = 0 ]
    then
< not able to log on using password type >
    fi

    suda

    Red face

    no?
i am interested to get information from programming point of view.
i mean using Native C/C++ API libraries.
-X option in isql allows u to login through encrypted password

The easiest is to just ask your DBA/sysadmin.

well point is if at dba side it changes, code should be dynamic to take decision on it;s own.
so asking administrator , definitely now, tomorrow he would say configuration changed.
well let me point out here there are option ..ENCRYPTION on sp_con_props where u can set password encryption and still logon with both encrypted and plain password.
ditch is later sybase gave other option in which he said to logon with only with encrypted password and plain would be rejected
