    Unanswered: DB2 license problem?

Running three Databases on the following DB2 Instance:
(this is on a Windows 2003 Enterprise edition Server)

    Code:
    C:\>db2levelDB21085I Instance "DB2" uses "32" bits and DB2 code release "SQL08028" with
    level identifier "03090106".
    Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.15.254", "s070720", "WR21383", and FixPak
    "15".
    Product is installed at "C:\PROGRA~1\IBM\SQLLIB".

    Code:
    C:\db2licm -l on 8.1.15.254
Product Name = "DB2 Workgroup Server Edition"
    Product Identifier = "DB2WSE"
    Version Information = "8.2"
    Expiry Date = "Permanent"
    Concurrent User Policy = "Disabled"
    Registered User Policy = "Disabled"
    Enforcement Policy = "Soft Stop"
    Number of processors = "1"
Number of licensed processors = "4"
    Annotation                              = ""
    Other information = ""
This instance of DB2 has been running fine and we have not made any changes to Fixpack level etc...
This morning we cannot connect to any of the databases in the Instance.
    Getting the following error:

    Code:
[IBM][CLI Driver] SQL1091C The release number of the database is
    not valid. SQLSTATE=08004
When I google this error it is usually an error that occurs after a fixpack update when the databases aren't migrated properly.. Did our license expire or something??

So, what changes did you make?

I don't think that follows from the error message.

You may want to check db2diag.log

    Your server shows:
    Informational tokens are "DB2 v8.1.15.254",

    but you show:
    Version Information = "8.2"

I'm not sure as I don't have this particular problem, but I'm wondering whether these versions might need to be the same?

    DB2 8.1 Fixpack 15 is the same as 8.2 Fixpack 8.

DB2 V8.1 Fixpack 7 was the first release of 8.2.

Sounds like the db directory got "migrated". Did you recently install another version (higher) of db2?

I understand you did not drop the database/instance prior to uninstalling v9.7. Right?

In this case, there can still be an old db directory from v9.7 (and some other db files). Confirm the release level of dbm and db directories using:
    db2 get dbm cfg
db2 list db directory / db2 list db directory on <path> (can fail with sql1091c)

Drop your new v8 instance and then search for sqldbdir (can be in two places). If found, try renaming it (don't delete), then re-create v8 instance and then try creating the db.
