    Unanswered: ODBC Connection failed

    I have tables in sql server and I have used a file dsn as well as system dsn to link to the database
    I can open any table at any time and view the data and make queries etc. from the database window

    But when ever I try to open an existing query object I get ODBC Connection failed errors. I have linked via NT Authentication as well as SQL authentication and the results are the same.

    MY connection is ODBC;Description=FileDSNtoServer;DRIVER=SQL Server;
    SERVER=SUSHNA6101\SQL_2005;
    UID=sa;
    APP=Microsoft Data Access Components;
    WSID=DUS200722;DATABASE=OnTime2010;
    TABLE=dbo.Defects

    I do not get it and this is killing me - I have read no less than 19 articles about this with no definitive pointers in the right direction.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated

    Usually it's:
    Code:
    driver={SQL Server}
    As in:
    Code:
    ODBC;driver={SQL Server};SERVER=SOLIMAN;DATABASE=Sales;Trusted_Connection=Yes
    The other elements (App, Description, etc.) are not strictly necessary to establish a connection. This is true for SQL 2000, SQL 2005, SQL 2008 (I did not try with SQL 6.5 and SQL 7).
    Have a nice day!
