    Unanswered: how can i move a db grom mssql?

    i want to make a format in my pc and i dont know how can i take my mssql databases and store them to a usb or o dvd or something..

    does anyone know about that?

    open SQL right click on the database click properties then files
    this show you the path of where the database is

    STOP the SQL
    all you need to do copy the .Mdf and the .Ldf to a safe place

    then when you have rebiuld the PC install SQl again then right click on the database and attach the .Mdf file again

    It would be safer to actually detach the databases , as opposed to moving the databases.

    and how can i do that?
    and what is the defference of detach and move?
