Unanswered: Problem with dump import via Oracle clinet 9i

    Hello

I need to create copy one user/schema with other name on Oracle database 10i. I have installed Oracle client 9i (that means EXP/IMP is also version 9i) on my computer.

My steps were follows - create copy of user/schema MYDATA to MYDATA2:
    1. Run EXP in order to export data from MYDATA to dump file - it work fine via client 9i
    2. Create new user with name MYDATA2 with all needed privileges
3****n IMP utility in order to import data to new user

But 3rd step doesn't work. The import was started but do nothing.

Can somebody tell me where can be problem? When I started last step on the computer with Oracle client 10i everything is OK.

I has to use Oracle client 9i because of specific reasons.

Is possible to import dump(10i) via client 9i to Oracle database 10i?

    Thanks

    Basically:
    - do the export using source database's EXP utility (9i in your case)
    - do the import using target database's IMP utility (10g in your case)

Here exists only one Oracle database server 10g and I connect to it via client 9i.
That means that export and import can be executed only via my utilities. I don't have any access to IMP utility on database server.

    To repeat Littlefoot's words differently:

You cannot import a dump into a 10g database using a 9i imp utility.
You have to install the 10g imp tool in order to be able to import into a 10g database.
