    Unanswered: RMAN question

I cannot seem to find the documentation on how to do this so I figured I should ask here...

I need to restore a database back to a point in time that current RMAN backups do not have listed anymore. We delete the physical backup files after 3 days, however, keep them on tape for up to a year. How do I re-register/catalog the backup files so that I can run RMAN and restore the database to that older point in time?

    In other words...

    * RMAN backs up database nightly to file system.
    * OS removes backups older than 3 days old, RMAN updates catalog.
    * Restored files from RMAN backup of 7 days ago and need to restore database using those files.

How can I get RMAN to "re-recognize" those 7 day old files as valid backups and restore the database using them?
