    Unanswered: access database efficiency

    Hi All,

Does anyone know which will query faster?
    1) A database with more fields
    2) A database with more rows

i have a student database with 2 semesters of results which one will allow access to query data faster.

should i create one with many fields?
    S1_english | S2_english | S1_maths| S2_maths| ...........

    or one with more rows
    semester | english | maths | science|....

    thanks

out of context, this question cannot be answered

in your context, if the question is between this --

    S1_english | S2_english | S1_maths| S2_maths| ...........

    or this --

    semester | english | maths | science|....

    then the answer is: neither

what you want is this --

    semester | subject | result
