Unanswered: How to become SQL DBA

    Hi,

I have a degree in CIS and worked as a prduction support analyst for 4 years. I've been working with db2000, db2005(just doing the basic like writing query, exec stored produce, backup table and backup/restore database). I would like to become a DBA and not sure what to do in order to get started.

Yes, but you do it at an MS approved testing centre. Check out the (jaw-droppingly bad) prometric website.

I could not agree more about the prometric website. It seemed like it was built to be confusing. I have taken many tests from them and it is always a battle just to find what I am looking for.

It sounds like you have been proactive enough in learning, testing..learning, testing...

Being that you already have a CIS degree and knowledge, I would get yourself a good CBT on the latest Cert test and have at it.

    Good luck my friend.

Just want to know if there are any tutorials for SQL? I will be promoted to a Senior Specialist and wanted to know more about SQL DB as the software that we are handling is basically from it.

More than you could read in a lifetime.
You would need to be more specific. Books Online (the SQL Server help files) are especially good and are the best place to start.
