Unanswered: Access 97 to Access 2007 Conversion Issue

I have been given the task to help a user in another dept make some changes to their Access 97 database. They were recently upgraded to Office 2007 and someone else helped them upgrade from Access 97 to Access 2007. They left the database in the mdb format and none of the options are available. This leads me to believe that they didn't do an actual conversion. I've read on-lin that if you leave the database in the mdb format that none of the design options are available.

Is there anyway to do the actual conversion at this point to Access 2007?

Thanks for any and all suggestions.

    Michele,

Access 2007 fully supports Access 2000/2003/2003 (MDB) formats.

If you want to try to convert then:

    1) open the MDB
    2) Click the Office Orb > Convert

The problem, I think, is that we're not talking about 2000/2002/2003 mdb format here, but rather Access 97 mdb format.

I think this conversion will have to be done in two steps, first converting from 97 to 2000, 2002
or 2003 then from there to version 2007.

Allen Browne covers the subject of the first conversion here

and also gives a link on his page showing how to do the second part.

    Hope this helps!

The problem with making anything foolproof...is that fools are so darn ingenious!
