    Unanswered: Index not working

I've tried making the field for email addresses 'Indexed' so there are no duplicates and each is unique for the record. However when selecting 'INDEXED (NO DUPLICATES)' in table design and testing, I am able to enter the same email address as one that already exists?

    Try:
    1. Create the index
    2. Compact and repair the database (Tools --> Database Utilities: this will rebuild the indexes)
    3. Test again.
    Have a nice day!

Do you perhaps have a compound index, with more than one field? In that case, each field by itself does not need to be unique.

If not, have you saved the second record? Access won't give you an error message unless you actually attempt to save the record with the duplicate info.

    That worked!

    Thanks for both your help.
