    Unanswered: New Column Issue

    Hi Team,

We created 5 new columns to the existing table. The columns were created WITHOUT Not Null With Default. IT worked fine in Basic environments. But when we moved the code(Front end Java code and BAckend Mainframe) to prod. The web screen crashed. No values were there in the table.

Is it because of the creation of field without not null with default?

After this we updated the table by running a update query and inserted some values into the new columns. But still screen crashes. Any Ideas or suggestions in this issue?

And also i wanted to know, If a web screen crashes, do we need to restart anything..

This sounds like an application issue. Does your java application code know that the table definitions have changed?

do you know that if a col is nullable you need to check null indicator when you fetch in your application program?

We checked the same code.. in dev and qa... but it is not working for prod environment only... Java has the code for the new fields... and the code hasn't handle the null for new fields.. i doubting the screen is crashing because of this null.. Is it true? Please give your suggestion on this...

And now we ran a Update query to update the values in Prod table. Now new fields has values in it. But still the screen is crashing. Thanks

It crashed before running the update query and right now we updated the table with values. still crashing... Do we need to restart the server or Web for this. OR a normal refresh in browser can handle this thing?

This is a DB2 forum, not an application or web forum.

    Maybe an application problem!
