What is the error message you get when you try to start the listener ?

No Oracle listener is required to start or access Oracle RDBMS.

    Check your oracle enviroment paths

    export PATH=/usr/bin:/usr/openwin/bin:/usr/sfw/bin:/opt/sfw/bin:/usr/local/bin:/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/Db_1/bin
    export ORACLE_HOME=/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/Db_1

Failing that you may need to do the following:-

    mv /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/Db_1/network/admin/listener.ora /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/Db_1/network/admin/name_listener.ora

    lsnrctl stop listener

    mv /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/Db_1/network/admin/name_listener.ora /u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/Db_1/network/admin/listener.ora

    lsnrctl start listener

    lsnrctl status

    COPY lines below

    id
    lsnrctl status
    ls -l $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
    lsnrctl service

PASTE lines above into terminal window

COPY commands & results then PASTE all back here

    Hi All,

    The issue had been resolved.

    Solution is as below

You will have to install the 10g software then use the 10g DBUA to convert the 9.2.0.6 db to 10g.
90% of users' problems can be resolved by punching them - the other 10% by switching off their PCs.

It may be the case that a minor upgrade to V9.2.0.7 or V9.2.0.8 may be required prior to invoking "dbua".

All information is included in the installation guide/release notes for 10gR2 - read & learn.
