Unanswered: Do main db2 install dir files change ?

    Hello,

    Running db2 v9.5 on AIX v6.1.

I'm planning to do some changes to my db2 instance/database. Do these changes make any changes to files residing in main db2 install dir like /usr/opt/db2_09_05 ? Or it always stays intact ?
(database and instance directories are elsewhere like /db2/base1 and /db2/db2base1 )

I need /usr/opt/db2_09_05 to stay unchanged.

    thanks
    Vilius

What kind of changes are you planning to make to your db2 instance/database?

The installation directory can get modified when installing a fixpak and you have to be root (for root installation).

    Hi,

    thanks for reply.

I'm surely not planning to do any updates(fixpacks).
My changes include some restores, database/instance configurations.

So if no updates - than main install dir and files there stays intact ?

You'll be using the instance owner id to do the changes and this id can't modify /usr/opt/db2_09_05.
