    Exclamation Unanswered: Restore RMAN backup

    My dev Oracle 9i server (on windows) died the other day when the hard disk went away, and I am really confused how to restore it from a backup.

    Another DBA who is no longer here setup some backups using RMAN, which are on a network share assessable by unc

    Can someone help me restore the backup? I've been doing a lot of reading, however I think i've confused myself more than anything..

    I have recreated a 9i instance on the windows server, now i want to restore the entire backup.

    Can someone help? I want to restore to any point in time.

    Thanks

    This is the weekly Sunday script, I am assuming this a full backup

    run {
    backup incremental level 0 database plus archivelog delete input;
    delete FORCE noprompt obsolete; }
    exit;

    Then I have some daily backups too

    Run {
    backup incremental level 1 differential database plus archivelog delete input;
    delete FORCE noprompt obsolete; }
    exit;

    These are the files

    Cool Restore + Recover

    If the backups were configured correctly, it should be easy if you configure your file system the SAME as it was before.

    Follow the instructions in the fine Oracle9i Recovery Manager User's Guide.

    I tried to set the channel to point to the network share where the backups exist, when I do a list backup; it shows me nothing, and obviously the restore does not work.

    Am I missing something or does that mean my backup files are no good?

    CONFIGURE CHANNEL DEVICE TYPE DISK FORMAT '\\somepath\df0_%d_%s_%t';

    Cool Not allowed

    You will need to copy the backups to the local disk (non network share).
    Did you create a new instance/database?

    Then you may need to follow the instruction on how to restore database to a new host.
