    Unanswered: Access: "You dont have necessary permissions..What to do?

    Guys,

    I know there were many thread regarding this issue but I couldn't get a simple answer for this error.

    I copied all the access files from my clients server and placed it on my local drive. it has all the .bak ,.mdb and .mdw files.I can't open the mdb file and it says "you dont have the necessary permissions..." I can easily open .mdw file and view/change the username etc. i'm not familiar with access security at all so please guide what I have to do next?

    I couldn't even open the .bak file after renaming to .mdb file and it gave me the same security permission error

    the person who developed this database no longer works for my client but I do have access to all the files. Any suggestions?

    thank You!

    You must Join the Workgroup Information File ( .mdw) you have copied along with the database, provided you have a valid UserID and Password for the file.

    1. Open Microsoft Access.
    2. Tools - ->Security - ->Workgroup Administrator...
    3. Click Join, browse and select the file with .MDW extention and click Open.
    4. Click OK.
    5. Now try to open your database with your UserID and Password.
