Question Unanswered: Fun with Combo Boxes

Here is an issue that I have run into more times than one. I want to put a combo box on a form for entry that has as its dataset another table that can be quite large (entering in a foreign key value). Lets say, for example, that I am talking about Orders. If I want the combo box to only display Orders still being built, when a user goes back to look at the entry on this form some time later, when the Order has finished, say, the Order combo box would appear empty, because I have a criteria in the query underlying the combo box that only returns Orders being built. On the other hand, I may not want to just present the user with a combo box with tens of thousands of Orders (all Orders, in other words). Has anyone come across a way to have what is displayed by a combo box and what shows up in a combo box when it is Dropped Down be different? I thank you all in advance for your time and your responses.

I'm not sure to totally understand what you mean but have a look at:
Forms: Limit content of combo/list boxes
Forms: Add item to combo box using OnNotinList event

You can also dynamically control the RowSource property of the combo.
    Have a nice day!
