    Smile Unanswered: sybase backup location

    hi..

i have sybase 12.5.3 running on AIX 5.2 server.now..space on aix server has running out.i got 1 network drive (dns323) with 500gb space that i already use as my windows file backup and have space left about 300gb.so i think i want to use these dns323 as my backup server to backup sybase db.in my dns323 i already install funplug.

so..can i make this dns323 as my backup server? if can..how to add dns323 as new sybase backup location.

    thanks.

    Hi,

I guess this question is more appropriate to Unix sa's not to sybase dba's.

If you have a n/w device, then you should ask your unix sa to mount it under some mount pioint and let you know the mount point.

Now you can use this mount point as normal file system and take dump of your databases using sybase command

dump database <db_name> to '<path of the mount poin>/<backup_filename>'
