    Smile Unanswered: encrypting a particular column i.e password

    Hi guys,
    I want to know how to encrypt a particular column. For example, we i have a table named as User_details :-


    username department password
    ------------ --------------- -------------
    raj java friend
    ram testing hurrah
    shyam marketing moneyhoney


    whenever we are inserting values for passwords it viewable. Infact understable i would day. any1 can view it. I want ti encrypt this column or when we insert values for password i want values like 19f10d78ju09oo...or any other format.

    Store the sha 256 hash in the database then when the user type in the password convert that to the sha256 and compare the it with what's in the database then only the person know it
