    Unanswered: Unable to drop table as locked and can't remove lock

    I am trying to drop a table, when i try i get:

    ORA-00069: cannot acquire lock --table locks disabled for <<tablename>>

    When i try to enable locks using:

    ALTER TABLE <<tablename>> ENABLE TABLE LOCK;

    I get:

    ORA-00054: resource busy and acquire with NOWAIT specified

    any ideas? i really need to delete the table.

    just a guess
    has some other session issued
    SELECT ,,,,,, FOR UPDATE against <particular_table>? without COMMIT or ROLLBACK?

    i guess it is possible there is another session locking it, how would i identify the session so i can kill it?

    do any clues exist by querying V$LOCK?
