    Unanswered: moving data from SQL Server to linux/DB2 in client server mode

    hello,
    we have our data in SQL Server 2008 R2 and need to move to linux/DB2 operating in client-server mode. Is we can do this through SSIS? If not what r the other possible ways we can do this? please help in this regard ASAP

    SSIS? No idea. I use bcp for exporting and another tool for importing, but that's because I'm used to it. Is this a one time thing? How much data / how many tables? It might influence the decision...

    hello,
    thanks for reply and its not for one time and tables is around 100's, If you did this in other way like bcp or import wizard can you please tell me in detail, I need to make a document before start working on it

    In my case I created a bcp format file per table and exported to a csv-file. Then the transfer to the remote location and signaled the remote to start importing.
    Afterwards various counts and error-file searches to find the failures.
    Bit of a pain at first, but runs like a charm nowadays.

    Perhaps SSIS has build in checks?
