A: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. * Work closely with the project team for database planning and developing optimal design strategies based on user needs, requirements and usage scenarios * Maintain software configurations, perform installations, and implement change control for all system configurations for database servers * Develop and manage various database security controls such as user profiles, role based access and authentication, and SOPs for database access requests * Perform periodic monitoring of database performance and efficiency to detect problematic queries or bottlenecks * Optimize physical input/output (I/O) system layouts, which may include changes such as the separation of data and index table spaces across multiple disks or caching frequently accessed tables * Analyze and implement optimal physical database architectures by distributing disk I/O intensive database operations to available I/O subsystems to ensure optimal disk performance * Develop upgrade plans for migrating SQL Server between different versions (such as SQL Server 2005 to SQL Server 2008) * Work closely with the development team to provide support for writing database objects (stored procedures/triggers/views) and performing code review * Provide support for the build and deployment processes * including packaging of database objects and documentation for the deployment of those packages

QUALIFICATIONS * Knowledge of CMMI level 3 processes and best practices (with particular emphasis on change management and testing processes) * Excellent communication skills for interaction with customers (both internal and external), and with other internal engineering teams * Ability to work both independently and as a part of a team * Strong desire and passion to learn new technologies * Fluent in English language * good written and verbal skills * Good problem solving and documentation skills * Ability to perform challenging assignments under general supervision * Demonstrated commitment to quality
EXPERIENCE * 2+ years as an enterprise SQL Server DBA * 6+ years of experience working with SQL Server (experience with SQL Server 2008 will be a plus) and strong knowledge of T-SQL * 2+ years of managing a DBA group * Experience with source repository tools such as Visual Source Safe or Microsoft Team Foundation Server * Experience in managing SharePoint databases * Experience with debugging and performance tuning * Experience with SQL Server Clustering, backup and recovery * Experience with data modeling and being able to define logical, conceptual and physical models will be a plus * Experience in managing BizTalk databases will be a plus * Experience in managing Oracle databases will be a plus C:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS and/or MEMBERSHIPS Bachelor of Science in computer science or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; MCDBA D: COMMUNICATIONS SKILLS This job requires interaction with scientists, program managers, senior executives, end-users, programming staff, administration, and support personnel. In addition, the position requires the documentation and creation of design, validation and maintenance of operational and user documentation, SOPs, regulatory compliance documents. The ability to effectively communicate ideas and concepts both orally and in written documents is critical.
