    Unanswered: database replication?

I am new to oracle. I have been approached by my supervisor with instructions to find research and solutions to a business issue.
I was originally told we would be using SQL server 2008, however we are actually using Oracle.
We want to set up a carbon copy of a database at another geographical location. We need both databases to be updatable and they need to update each other with any changes made on either end. They will both be on the same network and need to be available by both sites in case one fails or goes down.
I know I could have used merge replication with SQL server 2008, however, I do not know if Oracle offers the same option or something similar.
I am looking for any help or information that I could pass along to my supervisor.

I have found information on Mulit-Master replication. It looks like it might be the way to go. Any comments?
