Unanswered: New Task today ( batch job using osql for multiple password change)

    Hi everyone,

Our company induced its sister company's servers and our team got access to those 50 servers, we got sql logins with temporary passwords.

basically she is expecting me to write this batch, so that all my team members can import the server group and change the passwords in one go

    thanks in advance.

Yup, that's what DBA's do. Last time I did it (in '03) for over 1500 servers. Are you saying you don't know how to do it, or you want someone to do it for you?

Get a list of servers. You can do it either by using -L for your OSQL/SQLCMD, or by reviewing (programmatically of course) the contents of registered servers XML file. Then, within TSQL script, you iterate over the list, and for each occurrence of the server issue sp_password. Hope it helps to get you started. Anything beyond that would be considered doing it for you.
