    Question Unanswered: cannot stop das

    DB2 Version : DWBE v9.5.0.1
    FIX PACK : 1
    OS : AIX 5.3
    ==================================================
    hi, i have a problem...
when i open db2 task center i got this following error :

SQL4414N The DB2 Administration Server is not active.

    Explanation:

The request cannot be processed unless the DB2 Administration Server is
    active.

    User response:

Start the DB2 Administration Server by issuing the command DB2ADMIN
    START, and reissue the request.

and then i login as das user and then i try to "db2admin start" :

'SQL4409W The DB2 Administration Server is already active.'

however when i want to stop das "db2admin stop /force"
i got this error message :

'SQL22212N A DB2 Administration Server communication error has been detected. Client system: "10.22.133.31". Server system "10.22.133.31".'

do anyone know what going on with das? and what should i do?

    Regards,
    ajiep

Don't know much about DAS but dropping and recreating it may fix the errors.

    Hi,

Check the das process on the system using below command:

ps -ef | grep -i rrm

ps -ef | grep -i stm

kill the above the process and try to restart the das or you can drop and recreate after killing the process is also works fine.

Correct. Please notice that the "db2admin" does not work on unix, there are commands for that (dascrt dasdrop) to be executed as root.

when i run ps -ef | grep -i rrm there is nothing there.
and out put for ps -ef | grep -i stm only :

    root 311484 139396 0 Jan 17 - 0:01 /usr/sbin/hostmibd

is there the right one i must kill?

Yes, you have kill the process linked to ps -ef | grep -i stm.

Then try to drop the db2admin user using below command:

    <installation path>/instance/dasdrop

    <installation path>/instance/dascrt <adminusername>

    It should work properly.

I think you shouldn't disseminate false information with such aplomb.

    Hi,

ps -ef | grep -i rrm and ps -ef | grep -i stm

Both the process above I mentioned related to the das. If we have old das process running on the machine, then db2admin start for the current das user will not run. First we have to kill the old das process and create new das user using below command.

    <installation path>/instance/dascrt <dasusrname>

Note: This errors we have already experimented on our machines during the testing.
