Lightbulb Unanswered: Using V9.5 database files in V9.7

    Hello Experts,

We have db2 v9.5 and v9.7 installed on two different machines(platform:AIX).
Let, 9.5 on ServerA and 9.7 ServerB

We want to transfer a database from ServerA to ServerB without using backup-restore method as database is bulky.

We have mounted the related storage on serverB where complete database files are present. Now how this databases can be cataloged and started in instance of ServerB (in V9.7) and upgrade it.

I know the way using db2relocatedb, but this is useful only between the same db version levels. Hence not valid here.

    Could you please help!

    Thank you!

You can try to set up server B as a 9.5 system, copy everything and then upgrade server B to 9.7. Just using the V9.5 files and hoping it will work with a 9.7 instance is rather risky.

However, since you have to copy the data anyway, I don't see the problem with doing a regular backup/restore.
