    Exclamation Unanswered: ora-01401

    hie iam trying to find the source of the error "ORA-01401:
    inserted value too large for column". I want to know which table /
    column(s) are causing the problem.

    The error is not logged in the alert log.

    I set sql_trace = true and had him repeat the tests. Although we got bulk loads of trace files in both user_dump_dest and background_dump_dest i did not get any trace files or errors relating to ORA-01401.

    How can i solve this?

    do as below so we can know complete Oracle version & OS name.

    Post via COPY & PASTE complete results of
    SELECT * from v$version;
    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
    The average person thinks he's above average!
    For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.

    Reposting the same question (http://www.dbforums.com/oracle/1664664-ora-01401-a.html) will not get you any more answers

    an ORA-01401 is not severe enough to be put into the alert log. It is by definition an application error.

    What caused that error? Forms application? Stored procedure? Something different?
