    Unanswered: automatic maintenance - backup

    Automatic backups are configured to occur daily (criteria details = maximum time between backups is 1 day). Does this mean that db2 will perform them daily or only if db2 determines that a backup is required?

    At least daily. DB2 may take 2 Backups a day, if it determines to be necessary.

    Have you used this auto maintenance option before? Do you find it's working the way it should?

    I got the output from sysproc.automaint_get_policyfile and it's configured to occur daily, but it's not happening and no errors in the diag.log:

    From sysproc.automaint_get_policyfile:

    <!-- Backup Options -->
    <BackupOptions mode="Online">
    ....

    <!-- Frequency of automatic backups -->

    <BackupCriteria numberOfFullBackups="1" timeSinceLastBackup="24" logSpaceConsumedSinceLastBackup="2560"/>

    Doesn't the policy details appear in any control center GUIs? It may be easier to 'read' all related config off a GUI than from xml

    Maybe... I just don't like to use any GUI tools.

    And I don't think there is a way to specify/modify some of the BackupCriteria when using GUI - for example: logSpaceConsumedSinceLastBackup
