    Unanswered: Replacing the blob

I have a audit log table which has a blob column and my DBA says, that it is taking almost 95% of the space. he wants us to get rid of this.

We store character data of about maximum 25k in this column.

Can you please suggest what alternatives do i have.

What is the business justification for retaining this data?
Ask the person who uses this data what results if the data were no longer available.
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.

    Replacing the blob

We did discuss that point, but looks like we need to retain this data.

Then you don't need to do anything more.

Make it a CLOB, not a BLOB and it will only use the storage it needs (25k per record)
