Is there a way to 'materialize' object views created using relational tables ?
A survey of the oracle documentation for 9.2/10.1/11.2 servers suggests that there isnt. Oracle does provide 2 things:

1. Object views (OV) - you can start from relational tables and get an object representation in the form of an object view. However these are not materialized.

2. Object Materialized Views(OMV) - Oracle mandates the use of Object Tables (not relational tables) to create OMVs.

Even though option 1, does meet my requirement of getting an object representation in DB, the inability to materialize the view is a handicap in terms of performance. Maybe I am missing something - this seems to be a simple requirement expected to be quite common ?
