    Unanswered: Heterogenous databases

    Hello,
I want to know how to use heterogeneous databases in one application.
for example I want Oracle and Ms-Access or Sql server and Oracle in single application which will manipulate both databases.
There are some data in sql server and some in oracle
but when i want to see the whole database i can see whole database in single window.
Please help me to do that.

so you need two or more separate connections (one to each database).

you need to understand the underlying design of each dataabse so you can draw the data together

if howver you need to connect to differnet dataabses depending on installation then you perhaps coudl sub type the different datasources as different classess within Access

    separate connection for each database
    effectivley dupolicate the ODBC connections
one connection, say talks to Oracle, the other to SQL server

you major problem is going to be workigmn ouit waht is the common thread between each set of data.

rathert than asking can ODBC... why not just go ahead and try it.

I cannot give step by step instructions as I've not used VB or VB.NET to talk to data for years....
