    Unanswered: start the database

    We have Linux with DB2 9.7


    We see this message in db2diag.log file

    EDUID : 1793 EDUNAME: db2agent (TSMDB) 9
    FUNCTION: DB2 UDB, SQO Memory Management, sqloRequestShmget, probe:80
    MESSAGE : ZRC=0xFFFFFBEE=-1042
    DATA #1 : String, 28 bytes
    Failed to allocate hugepages


    Please help me.

    You must have DB2_LARGE_PAGE_MEM=DB registry variable set. Make sure you have enough huge pages configured at the OS level to allocate db shared memory (database_memory).

    Huge page support is not recommended by IBM for DB2 on Linux. During benchmark testing were I work, we found DB2 ran noticeably slower with Huge Page support enabled on RHES 5.5.

    can you provide me some test scenarios which you have applied for your benchmark testing and why it's not advisable .

    I am working on some testing with huge pages in our environment.

    It might be helpful for me .

    We ran an OLTP application test using Loadrunner. 32 CPU cores, 128 GB memory. If you test with and without, let us know the results.
