    Question Unanswered: error-12560: TNS:protocol adapter error

    hi i am getting this error while connecting to oracle 10g express edition database.

    SQL*Plus: Release 10.2.0.1.0 - Production on Thu May 26 17:45:41 2011

    SQL> connect

    ERROR:
    ORA-12560: TNSrotocol adapter error

    At OS level are both database & listener Services started?

    I dn't know whether the two services started or not. plz tell me. How to find those two services started or not?

    when was last time Oracle & SQL*Net worked OK?
    What changed since then?

    What OS name & version?

    i did not do any modification? i tried some querys last time and then disconnected, after that i get this problem. i am using windows 7 ultimate.

    Since you didn't mention the Oracle version, I assume, you are trying 10.2.0.1.0 (as shown as client version in your original post).

    This will not work with Win7 (or 2008 R2). You need a version >= 10.2.0.5.0 to work with Windows 7 (or 2008 R2)
