on the otherhand sqlserver itself is an entirely different animal to learn, become certified on, and experienced with. importing Access data you will find to be a trivial task compared to becoming versed in the overall sqlserver environment.
think of it this way; sqlserver is an 18 wheeler while Access is a pickup truck.
in general, the increasing power of PCs means the cross over to needing to move to sqlserver recedes. so there should be a very compelling reason to to introduce sqlserver into the environment.
