Unanswered: Diffrent Versions of Analysis Services and SQL Database Engine

    Hello all,

I very new to DBA stuff. Most of my experience has been just installing SQL Server. Well we are having a vendor install some databases for patient care and apparently my install was not sound.

They are telling me that the version of Analysis Services (1600) is not the same as SQL Database Engine (2531). Both need to be the same for what they are trying to do.

Does anyone have any clue how I can change or upgrade one of these?

We have Sql Server 2008 R2 but, I also have a disk for SQL server 2008.

    Thanks in advance
    Mike

Operative word being "appear", you appear to have a very recently released hot fix applied to your SQL Server, and no service packs or patches applied to your Analysis Services. I can't find any public discussion of Build 2531, but it has to be pretty recent. This is an extremely unusual case, and usually implies some assistance from Microsoft Premier Support (MS-PSS).

Without knowing more specifics, I can't offer much help. If you have been working with MS-PSS, I would go back to them and request assistance.

In theory, theory and practice are identical. In practice, theory and practice are unrelated.
