Unanswered: Db benchmarks, when to upgrade from express to standard edition?
We have a ca. 3.5GB big database on sql 2005 express for an accounting application. Like I could notice the limit for it is 4GB for all mdf files for a each database instance, and 1GB of ram. Application is used by 4 users at most and are going to expand for probably 2 user per year.
In this days we are migrating to a new hw and sw. I am interested in the following questions:
- How to define and meausure if the express version (sql 2008-e 10gb limit, 1GB mem limit) will be enough for our specific application?
- What improvements can we see if we use a standard version? How can db benefit from more ram or in other words is the common db principle to put in ram as much data as possible?
