Unanswered: Hopefullly easy question about getting earliest record for each item.

Hopefully an easy answer . I am trying to create a query that will return just the earliest record for each client in the table.

In the table I have a primary key that that I thought I could use to get the earliest record.

    An example would be:
    Element_ID Client_ID
    123456 1339
    123457 1470
    123458 1339

How would I set up the query to retrieve just the Element_ID(s) of 123456 and 123457 without also getting the 123458?

Just to let you know if you haven't figured it out yet, I am very new to access 2007.

Also, I can't edit the database. I am using Access as a front end for it and the odbc connection is read only.

    All help is appreciated.

Depending on your needs, you may just need the first query:

    Most recent value
