    Unanswered: Auto Insert Letter

    How can I set up a field that automatically inserts a letter instead of a number?

    I have a form and subform linked by the FamilyMemberID (autonumber). On the subform I need a field that automatically assigns a MemberCode field with a letter. I used tabbed form with a subform on each tab for each member of the family. Each tab is titled FamilyMemberA, FamilyMemberB, FamilyMemberC, etc. Each subform has alot of different information for each family member. In order to keep the family members names hidden on reports I need to give each a field that inserts the corresponding letter from the tab. I could enter the letter in the field manually but I prefer it to automatically fill the field.

    Thanks!

    Q what happen after FamilyMemberZ.

    First Idea

    you count the Number of records in the SubForm then

    ThisLetter = CHR(65+CountofSubFrom)

    so when CountofSubFrom = 2

    ThisLetter = "C"
    hope this help

    See clear as mud

    Maybe I need to make myself more clear....

    Instead of using the AutoNum for the field "FamilyMemberCodeA" and have a number inserted into the field, I'd like to have a Letter inserted instead. How do I change the number to a letter?

    Thanks!
