    Unanswered: Runstats required ??

    Hello all,

As we usually see message like this ( db2 v9.1 on aix 5.3 ), in inst.nfy file,

ADM10512W Health indicator "Statistics Collection Required"
("db.tb_runstats_req") is in state "Update statistics required" on "database"
"db2inst1.TPOSDB ". Collection (Object Name, Timestamp, Value, Detail): "
    ("POS"."DUTIL", 09/12/2011 07:43:54.000000, 2, RUNSTATS USE PROFILE)".
I think we should be able to check if the runstats are required or not for a particular table.

I have been running runstats only by guess(estimate).

Can someone tell if there is a specific logic that I should follow ??

runstats should be run : whenever indexes are added/changed - whenever large amount of data loaded/deleted ..
if slowly changing/growing data : on regular time base (monthly-trimester..)
some customer open the automated runstats in the night and let db2 handle this. they turn this off in the morning..
