    Unanswered: Unable to connect Oracle

    Hi Friends,

    I am using Oracle Database 10g Express Edition, when i trying to login i got the error..
    ERROR:
    ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress.

    I tried with previous thread results in this forums but i didnt get solution

    so please help me out this problem

    sqlplus
    / as sysdba
    shutdown abort
    startup
    exit

    from OS command line enter each of 5 lines above EXACTLY as shown

    COPY commands & results hen PASTE all back here

    i open sqlplus and trying login with user HR but i get same error message
    ERROR:

    Does the file 'C:\ORACLEXE\ORADATA\XE\SYSTEM.DBF exist?

    Yes it is in
    C:\oraclexe\oradata\XE\SYSTEM.DBF

    but the size of the file is "0 KB" its shows

    Your datafile can't be zero bytes and it is corrupted. If you have backup then restore. If your not in archive mode then your out of luck and will need to rebuild the database.

    How to recover the SYSTEM.DBF file, i dont have backup

    Uninstall everything, install everything.

    As you don't have a backup, it appears that you either don't care about your data, or you didn't start using this database yet. Anyway, reinstall. XE is installed in a simple manner, but - pay attention to possible error messages. If you encounter any, post them here.
