Job Title: Tier 2 DBA for iAd services.
Work location: Cupertino, CA
Relevant Experience (Yrs): 4-6 Years of experience as DBA skills
Administer and support large production databases from 1 to 5 Terabytes in size in a Linux environment
Play a key role in ensuring the availability, performance and security of the databases
Design and implement database infrastructure, including performance monitoring, capacity planning, and automation of database related processes
Work with cross-functional teams in a highly collaborative environment to complete complex database projects
Oracle Support including In-depth knowledge Oracle 10g & 11g RAC including: Job scheduling, Creating and troubleshooting stored Procedures. Database replication. Ability to install and manage multiple Oracle instances in a clustered environment.
Design enterprise-wide database backup and recovery plans and implementing backup/recovery, failover, and replication procedures.
Monitor Production Systems to ensure maximum system availability
Maintain the production, high availability, development and test databases
Perform database tuning and performance monitoring
Resolve performance issues, tuning and optimization
Manage new database projects in line with overall business requirements
Work as part of a team to provide 7x24 support when required
Take part in the On-call rotation
Demonstrated Oracle DBA experience in a large production environment
Demonstrated commercial experience supporting RAC on Linux in a large production environment
Knowledge of RMAN
Strong hands-on partitioning and performance tuning skills
Strong SQL and UNIX scripting skills
Project leadership skills
Strong verbal and written communications skills
Depth knowledge and experience in full life-cycle database including data architecture, logical and physical database design, data modeling, implementation, and administration.
Strong Database and RAC implementations experience and troubleshooting skills in mission critical Environment.
Strong knowledge of Oracle Database Tuning and using stats pack.
Demonstrated, in-depth knowledge of database internals and data structures
Strong knowledge of SQL/SQL*Plus and strong understanding of PL/SQL and stored procedures/pkgs.
Strong Knowledge of Database Backup and recovery using RMAN and logical backups.
Strong Knowledge of OEM /Oracle Grid for 10g.
Strong knowledge of Unix shell or Perl scripting languages.
Strong communication skills and customer-support focused attitude
Strong ability to troubleshoot
Strong performance tuning experience.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Provide Support including attend user calls to resolve their functional / process / operational/Technical issues
Provide updates to knowledge database and train Tier 1 support team, enabling them to resolve more incidents
Provide representative for discussions or give guidance on impacts on projects being undertaken based on lessons learnt during Tier 2 support.
Maintain up-to-date technical resolutions within the Tier 2 Support Center’s knowledge-based system
Coordination with the end user to update on ticket resolution where ticket is triaged to Tier 3
Identify recurring issues/alerts and conduct root cause analysis
Log calls details in Remedy. Track calls to closure
