    ROWID data type in DB2 9.7

    Can anybody give me the hint why ROWID data type is not being recognized in db2 9.7

    Because, there is no such data type in DB2.

    About ROWID

    Thanks for your reply .If there is no ROWID data type then how can we store data for blob and clob columns? Or can you tell me how can we use blob and columns in db2 for large objects..

    It is supported in DB2 for z/OS. Make sure you are using the correct documentation because DB2 for z/OS is a different product than DB2 LUW.

    You just add those columns to your table. It is usually a good idea to store such columns in a different tablespace (see CREATE TABLE with LONG IN option for LOB data), and if you have 9.7 you may want to use the INLINE option when you define the LOB column (particularly if the average length of the data will fit on the page you have selected for the table).

    About ROWID

    Once again my thanks for your responses. I referred some redbooks from IBM to learn LOBs. Can anybody please suggest me any links or redbooks for LOBs in DB2 for LUW.I am currently using DB2 9.7 express c edition. Your information will be valuable for a fresher like me. Thanks in advance
