Unanswered: Search Engine query and VBA help.

I am trying to adapt a search engine feature to my Access application,
    i found an exemplar here:

I am trying to achieve number 1 or 3, however I am having a couple of problems.

The first problem is that I keep getting the parameter value pop up thing coming up, any idea how to get rid of that?

Second problem is with the double click VBA(when i click on a click to open their profile):
    The code is:

    Private Sub Form_DblClick(Cancel As Integer)
    DoCmd.OpenForm "Profile", acNormal, , "[FamilyID] = '" & Me.FamilyID & "'"
    DoCmd.Close acForm

    End Sub

and i get this error message "Run time error '3464' Data type mismatch criteria expression"

    I am using Access 2007/2010.

The forms that are in question are:

and the queries in related are:

I have attached a zipped profile which has dummy data.

Also, on a separate note. Is there a code that I can implement to stop the user from entering a file number twice? The file number is not the primary key, however is there some sort of lookup code that i can write to see if a particular number has already been entered and if it has an error message should occur?

Thanks for your help and time.

    1. The link you provided is not valid:
The file you have requested has not been found or you may have arrived here from an old link.
    2. If FamilyID is numeric, the instruction for opening the form should be:
    DoCmd.OpenForm "Profile", acNormal, , "[FamilyID] = " & Me.FamilyID

    Thanks for the prompt reply,

    this is the link,

Access Help and How-to - Microsoft Office Search/sort/select - UtterAccess Discussion Forums

    sorry for that.

Secondly, did you get a chance to check out the other problem I had? The parameter value box pops us. The only time I can type into the search box is when i come out of desgin view, then the parameter box pops up and I have to type in that.

    This is on frmsearchclientsub1.

Thanks for your time and help.
