    Unanswered: help me plz .. site with a slow local clock !


    I have a question and I hope to answer me pleas..

    if the system use the local clock to generate timestamps, what are the disadvantages for the transactions running in a site with a slow local clock?

    The problem will be accuracy. As the slow clock progresses, your system generated timestamps will become more and more incorrect.

    Usually, you synchronize your system clock with an available time server (unless you have a radio clock in the system). That way, you don't have to worry about the speed of your clock. The clock resolution is a different matter in case you want to use timestamps as some sort of identifiers. A fast system with a low-resolution clock may give you more frequently duplicate values.
