Unanswered: DB2 installation on Redhat Enterprise 6.1
Can anyone enlighten me on the following question as I had the following scenario: I did a new db2 installation using root id (V9.7 Workstation edition) on a Redhat Linux 6.1 Enterprise Edition, I was able to complete the installation but the default db2inst1 instance creation failed during the installation. I manually create the instance by this command /opt/ibm/db2/V9.7/instance/db2icrt -a server -u db2fenc1 db2inst1, it created successfully. Following is my questions
1. What is the possible reason for the failure of instance creation during the installation?
2. Why does the /etc/init.d/db2 script not created ?
3. I try starting the new created instance /home/db2inst1/sqllib/adm/db2start but it did not start showing error "SQL2032N The "-o" parameter is not valid. SQLSTATE=22531", how can I start this instance?
try to see the logfile from installation
have you started db2 from db2inst1
just : db2start should do : no options....
the etc script is not created anymore
use db2fmcd and db2fm to autostart the instance

Good DBAs are not formed in a week or a month. They are created little by little, day by day. Protracted and patient effort is needed to develop good DBAs.
