    Unanswered: logsegment on non-log database device

    Hello expert,

    I am not very familiar with SYBASE. I have a question about logsegment's allocation.
    I created 13 database devices. My initial idea is 10 for data and 3 for log. I don't want to mix data segment and log segment to the same database device.
    Here is the creation SQL.

    ---------------------------------------------------------
    create database isi_tst_db on isi_tst_db_data1 = 1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data2=1203200,
    isi_tst_db_data3=1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data4=1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data5=1536000,
    isi_tst_db_data6=1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data7=1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data8=1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data9=1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data10=1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data11=1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data12=1024000,
    isi_tst_db_data13=1024000
    log on isi_tst_db_log1 = 256000,
    isi_tst_db_log2 = 256000,
    isi_tst_db_log3 = 256000 for load

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    However after I bcp the dump, I found some non-log database devices are also used by logsegment. Can you please tell me?

    1. How does this happen.? I suppose log should be only on log database device.

    2. Since some non-log database devices are used by logsegments, is there any way to exclude logsegment from them?

    Thanks,
    Alfa

    Your data and log segments must be in the same sequence as that of the source DB loaded.
    What does the segments look like on the source db?
    Select * from master..sysusages WHERE dbid=db_id('the_source_db') order by lstart
