    Unanswered: PostgreSQL error server connection

    Hello,

I recently installed postgreSQL to my desktop PC and it all went well, but since i work on my laptop i decided to install it there as well. I went through the same steps and the same installation process. Unfortunately here i get this error: Error connecting to the server: could not translate host name "localhost" to address: Unknown server error. I am really new to postgreSQL and still reading through the documentation. I have the latest version 9.1.2-1 and working with the pgAdmin III.

Solved it. In pgAdmin III under the server right click and go to properties, then the advanced tab and in the host address type 127.0.0.1. Seems i forgot the default ip.

In the future, please let us know what platform you installed it on (Windows 7 64-bit / Debian Linux). It will save time in having positive replies.
