Unanswered: How to upgrade from postgresql 9.1.1 to 9.1.2 ?

    Hi,

How to upgrade from postgresql 9.1.1 to 9.1.2 ?

From doc for pg_upgrade, it is mentioned "It is not required for minor version upgrades, e.g. from 9.0.1 to 9.0.4."

However is there a minor version upgrade ? Any recommendation or references?

    Regards,
    Eye Gee

Shutdown the server, install the new binaries, start the server.
No need for a dump & restore for minor version upgrades

How to upgrade from postgresql 9.1.1 to 9.1.2 ?

    Hi shammat,

    Thanks for the reply.

I am installing on SUSE using rpm. From your explanation you mentioned just install the new binaries. I don't have a test server to test, I assume that I can just install the new binaries using rpm -ivh "new release.rpm" or do I have to remove the old ones 1st ?

    Regards,

Sorry, I don't use Linux so I have no clue what the rpm installer will do.

On Windows I just download the ZIP archive with the binaries and unpack it into the existing folder.
