Unanswered: Reduce Access dB Size (was 550MB no 1.99GB)

    Hello,

My access dB is about 1.99GB in size however it started at 550MB and the backups are 550MB. is there a way to clear cache or something that would reduce its size back down? The extra table I made doesn't even remotely have an additional 1.5GB of data in it and I'm guessing that a cache is saved somewhere!

I first thought it was a corrupt dB because it was saying "Cannot open database ''. It may not be a database that your application recognizes, or the file may be corrupt."

But when I looked around, it was said that Access 2003 can't do more than 2GB, which I don't need that much space anyway!

    Any tips?

    Try

    Tools/Database Utilities/Compact and Repair

on a COPY of the database.

Thank you! I have a backup "COPY" so this one should work!

It brought it down to 750MB which is about right!

    Thanks
