Unanswered: inserting data into table 9i

    Hi

I have a partitioned table which I populated with data but forgot to add one column. So I added the missing column but now that column is null. Could someone please advise the syntax to populate all 2000 rows of that column with the number 60?

    I've tried

    Code:
    alter table sgsn_mobility_mgmt_index set PERIOD_DURATION=60
but get message 'Missing keyword UNUSED'

    and

    Code:
    insert into sgsn_mobility_mgmt_index (PERIOD_DURATION) values (60)
but get message 'Inserted partition key does not map to any partition'.

    Regards

ALTER TABLE is used to change the structure of a table
INSERT is used to create new rows in a table

To change column values in existing rows you need to use UPDATE.
