    Unanswered: How to stop creation of unwanted files in db2dump

    Hi all,
    in the following directory

    there are so many files creating with db2fence user and also db2inst1 as owner and db2fence files contains the following at the starting of file
    * *

    * A db2fmp thread terminated abnormally. *
    * This may have been caused by a prog- *
    * ramming error in the routine it was *
    * executing. A stack trace-back follows. *
    * The process remains active. *
    * *
    followed by so many statements

    db2inst1 files contains the following at the starting of file

    db2 build information: DB2 v8.1.0.80 s041221 SQL08021
    timestamp: 2010-11-15-
    instance name: db2inst1.000
    EDU name : db2agent (HRMPRODU)

    uname: S:AIX R:3 V:5 M:0001209AD300 N:GURAPP45
    thread id : 1 (0x1)

    some of the file names are as follows:

    -rw-r--r-- 1 db2fenc1 db2grp1 23607 Jun 19 2010 t999646.000

    i am new to this project, i think some feature is activated by previous DBA,

    1)how can i stop this creation??
    2)what is the importance of these files

    You can stop creation of the files by getting DB2 to not crash anymore. The files are used by IBM support to diagnose the problem, but since 8.1 is no longer supported by IBM you may delete the files.

    To avoid the problems, you might want to install the latest DB2 fixpack for V8.1. Your version is 8.1 FP8, which was released on 20 Jan 2005.​​

    The latest fixpack for 8.1 is FP18 Released on 14 Aug 2009.​​
